Let Him In

revelation323Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. – Revelation 3:20

I am sure that many of you have heard the story of the lady that had locked her car keys in the car. This poor lady was frantic. She had an appointment to get to and now she would be late. It had been rough day and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. She stood next to the car and started to cry.

A neighbor saw her crying and came out to find out what was going on. When he got there and asked what was wrong, she tearfully explained that her keys were locked in the car. The neighbor assured her that it everything would be okay. Then he smiled and reached through the open window and retrieved her keys, unlocked her door and handed her the keys.

Sometimes, a simple task can seem impossible. Sometimes you just need someone to extend a helping hand to help you see that obvious next step. Have you ever felt that way?

Maybe, that’s why you haven’t asked for help from Christ. There are several things that you need to realize in order to receive God’s spiritual assistance in your life. He wants a personal relationship with you. He has come to your own home, bringing an offer you cannot afford to ignore. He is seeking admission to your life. Isn’t it amazing that the God of all creation would come looking for you personally? That’s love. That’s Who He is.

How many ways has He knocked on your door?

When you are feel guilty over something. and you feel a longing to make it right. That’s Him knocking!

When you hear His words on the radio. That’s Him knocking!

When a child of grandchild with an innocent and open heart wants to go to church and you don’t want to take them. That’s Him knocking!

How about when you are amazed at the beauty of a shimmering lake. That’s Him!

That beautiful melody of the songbird in the early morning. That’s Him!

Don’t harden your heart. Don’t ignore His calling to you. You may have developed selective hearing with some people, but don’t shut God out when He knocks on the door of your heart. Open that door and let Him in.
